Top 10 songs // December 2016

Yeah I'm lazy i know. I will try and post one of these every month next year but we all know it won't happen.
Links to all songs will be at the end.

*In order from favourite to slightly less favourite (1 is favourite)*

1. Christmas Lights - Coldplay
I love Coldplay in general but this song is really special.
Favourite Lyrics: Still waiting for the snow to fall, it doesn't really feel like Christmas at all.
Those Christmas lights, light up the street
May all your troubles (oh) soon be gone. Those christmas lights keep shining on.

2. Stand Up - The Cab
I love this song because it's about being resilient and not letting people get you down.
Favourite Lyrics: Yeah when they knock ya down, down, down, kid you gotta Stand Up (stand up) Stand up (stand up)
Open your eyes, shut up and give it a try
Yeah maybe I'm crazy but don't try to save me 'cos I've never felt so alive

3. Wild Wild World - Set It Off
There will probably be a lot of Set It Off in here. I can't count all their amazing songs
Favourite Lyrics:
Well how can one man make a difference? How? Well maybe love is where it starts
We're not going crazy, we're learning to fly. We're looking for answers with both of our eyes.
Well if we crave a change, why not start today? and sing it out loud

4  Why Worry - Set It Off
Another song saying that we often turn the smallest things into a big deal, and sometimes we just need to relax
Favourite Lyrics:
(Why-y) Please tell me why do we worry? (Why-y) Why do we worry at all?
Why do we insist on crossing bridges that do not exist?
Have you noticed you're breathing? Looked around and count your blessings?
Are you sick of hearing that Hakuna Matata motto from people who won the lotto? we're not that lucky

5. Let Her Go - Passenger
This song is so bittersweet. It reminds me of my primary school and all the things I left behind (By the way, I finished primary school! high school girl now y'all) In my head I tend to think of the "her" as all my classmates, since the school felt like it was a personality of it's own.
Favourite Lyrics:
Staring at the ceiling in the dark, same old empty feeling in your heart
Only hate the road when you're missing home
Maybe one day you'll understand why, everything you touch surely dies

6 The Days - Avicii
This song also reminds me of my old school, but it also reminds me that I don't have to forget everyone and everything there.
Favourite Lyrics:
Under the tree where the grass don't grow, we made a promise to never get old
These are the days we will never forget
These are the days we've been waiting for, on days like these who could ask for more? keep it coming, 'cos we're not done yet, these are the days we won't regret

7. Rockabye - Clean Bandit
I heard this song at my primary school Graduation Ceremony and fell in love. Such a beautiful song.
Favourite Lyrics:
She just wants a life for her baby
Your life, ain't gonna be nothing like my life
No one will come, she's got to save him

8.  Dreamcatcher (Acoustic) - Set It Off
Yet another song about self-empowerment :)
Favourite Lyrics:
Cast your net, cast it out. And I hope to god you'll scream and shout
They will proclaim you a fool. And it reminds you to do, anything and everything to prove them a liar.
Devour the cynics, dismiss the critics. And mark my words, they'll regret it.
Don't let skeptics slow your pace. With every forward step you'll take their breath away.

9. I am not naming this one
I felt like putting this at number 1, or 2, but I thought since it's a sort of hidden song it might be more comfortable down here...? I don't know, I feel like this is a song that is best out of the public eye. It's very very special to me. It is a song-story about how only one human and one robot survive some disaster, and eventually fall in love. Most of the song is about how the human will die eventually and the robot will go forth from the place and never think about him/her anymore. It's a beautiful song. Also, because of my view that it is a sort of "private" song, I will not supply the link to this one, rather a link to a song called "Robots". If you private message/email me I will give you the link to the actual song.
Favourite Lyrics:

10. Bleak December - Set It Off
Can you tell I'm slightly obsessed with Set It Off? Anyway, this song isn't really a song I connect to emotionally, it's just good music.
Favourite Lyrics:
You would hold your cards inside your chest, I'd take a joke too far
If you'd stop trying to steal the spotlight and steal the show, then maybe you would have a better chance of not dying alone
Give me, give me, give me the truth now. I promise I can handle it if you can.
